FOUNDING STORY WITH CEO KARL KRISTIAN BERGMAN JENSEN
Karl Kristian Bergman Jensen founded New Nordic in 1990 with a clear and personal vision: to build a company that harnessed the healing power of nature to add vitality and years to people’s lives. Deeply rooted in the Nordic tradition of living close to the natural world, he built the brand on a belief in the extraordinary potential of medicinal plants. This is achieved through combining heritage with rigorous science – creating supplements and beauty products that genuinely work in harmony with the body. With Marinus Blåbjerg joining as co-owner in 1992 and François Gérard strengthening the research and innovation team in 2004, the foundation Karl Kristian laid has grown into a globally recognised brand present in over 40 countries, sold in more than 50,000 pharmacies and health stores worldwide. From the iconic Silver Tree logo (Yggdrasil, the Norse tree of life) to the brand’s pharmaceutical-grade quality standards and unwavering commitment to transparency, everything traces back to the values Karl Kristian instilled from day one.
ANNURCA APPLE SOURCING STORY
At the heart of New Nordic’s Hair Volume™ is the Annurca apple. It’s believed to be the oldest apple variety in the world and cultivated for over 2,000 years in the volcanic soils just north of Naples, Italy. After years of research, François Gérard and founder Karl Kristian Bergman Jensen identified the Annurca apple as the perfect ingredient. This is because of its exceptionally high natural concentration of procyanidins — which are powerful antioxidants known to support hair follicle health and promote growth. What makes this apple truly unique is its traditional harvesting process. After being picked, the apples are laid on reed beds and turned by hand every four days until perfectly ripe, preserving their potent properties. Combined with millet, horsetail, amino acids, biotin, and zinc, the Annurca apple extract forms the foundation of a clinically supported formula designed to nourish the scalp and hair follicles from within — delivering visibly thicker, stronger, and shinier hair.
